This is getting exciting. I'm down to the last steps before releasing my new novel, Ghost of Lost Eagle. Problem! I'm struggling with cover choices. How about giving me some feedback?
Which cover is best? Or, is neither cover good enough?
Here are the two covers I am thinking about:

Thank you for your help!
The one on the left makes me think it's more a mystical story. the one on the right has an air of mystery but it's more human drama. I'd choose the one that best depicts which angle the book takes. They're both great covers.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Margie. The story is western-romance with a paranormal twist as traditional Native American lore comes alive in the form of an old Indian medicine man ghost and a lone wolf spirit guide who play pivotal roles.
DeleteYour observations are much appreciated...Dean.
I was drawn to the one on the left, Dean. But I usually gravitate more toward the one without the faces. The color is lovely, too.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Martha. I like them both for different reasons, hence the value of all the responses to this blog. I'm pretty much going to go with the "winner" in vote count.
DeleteI appreciate your observations...Dean.
I like the one on the right because it's bold and not as "busy." There are two things that bother me about the one on the left. First, the orange color seems off. I'm not sure if this is supposed to a sunrise or sunset or the glow of a fire, especially since you appear to have a full moon in the background. Also, the dreamweaver (is that what it's called?) makes the picture rather "busy." When you shrink that to a thumbnail, I suspect you would lose most of the detail, making it hard for the reader to decipher.
ReplyDeleteThe one on the left gives the impression that it's a ghost story, especially with the title.
ReplyDeleteThe one on the right doesn't seem to 'fit' the title, but it hints better at romance.
I guess a lot depends on your target audience. Paranormal, or romance, although there are parnormal romances...but not in the way this one appears to be.
I like the one on the right. :)
ReplyDeleteI was more drawn to the one on the left esp as the one on the right is romantic looking western type of cover. The paranormal doesnt show through. As im on phone pictures aren't very big and clear so I cant tell what the picture actually is. But I immediatly looked at it first. Tbh I just want the book available to me asap because I've got to know you a bit I intend to buy it whatever the cover.
ReplyDeleteI think they are both really nice. The one on the left fits the title better but does not grab you, i think it is to much orange. If it had more color it would make it alot better. The one on the right to me is more eye catching. I think i would pick the right it catches the eye better. What should i select under the profile? Janie
ReplyDeleteI prefer the one on the right. It's cleaner and less busy. The man and woman makes me more interested in opening the book. The cover indicates intrigue. At first thought regarding the one on the left, it took me some time to figure out what it was, but not the same with the one on the right. If this is a period piece, the hats tell us quite a bit about the time this world takes place. It's such a lovely cover. Go with the one on the right.

Hi there! love the covers, but I think that they both give very different impressions about what the book is really about. I would actually combine them, keeping the pictures of the characters and adding the dream catcher with the coloring of the other other cover. That hybrid will give the romantic and spiritual or paranormal feel.
ReplyDeleteAlso, don't give the genre of the book on the cover.
ReplyDeleteDean I like the one on the right. The cover on the left is too busy and I needed to concentrate on the cover to make out the wolf and the dreamcatcher. The cover on the right has mystery attached to it and drew me more instantly. Best of luck
